It is my understanding that HD has a belt dressing. This dressing is composed of honey and wax. I have used regular belt dressing and it gummed up everthing that it came into contact with. Also, I have been told by using regular belt dressing it can cause more stress and pull a little to hard. So, I purchased a block of cooking wax and added honey melted it together then let it dry in a can. I then broke up the pieces. I periodically rub the honey wax on the belt. No problem with gumming and it goes on very nice. I use it for preventive purposes.
